When Emily Hughes opened Mix Home Mercantile and Emily Hughes Interior Design with her husband, Scott Marks, in Dec. of 2019, she wanted to give other talented interior designers a place to collaborate, grow their on-the-job experience, and build a client base in an inspiring boutique design studio setting. As her team grew, so did the need for a more all-inclusive name for the design team at Mix Home Mercantile.
Located right next door to Mix Home Mercantile, the retail storefront, you’ll find Mix Home Design Studio. Each member of this design studio team brings a unique set of skills and work experience, providing clients with expertise in all areas of comprehensive interior design services.
The Mix Home Design Studio team believes in taking a client-focused, team approach to interior design, collaborating with each other, our clients, and quality builders and subcontractors to provide exceptional customer service. Regardless of the project scope, any member of the Mix Home Design Studio team is qualified to take a project lead role and is supported and guided by the founder’s 23 years of interior design industry experience.

Interior Designer
Jackie Yoder
Jackie first noticed an attraction to art and design when growing up with grandparents who decorated with their collection of antiques. Drawn to the excitement of rare and distinct items, she found herself in many art and design classes in her younger years of education. Initially starting with architectural courses at the higher level, she soon realized her true passion of interiors and changed her major to Interior Design.
Since graduating in 2014, Jackie has learned that her favorite part of design is the form of discovery that she gets to experience every day. Her process focuses on identifying a client’s needs and tastes so their surroundings can be truly curated to fit their specific lifestyle. To her, one’s home should be their great escape, encompassing a combination of function, comfort, expression, and enjoyment. She would describe her personal style as ”Eclectic Mid-Century” but her true mission is to inspire homeowners to be audacious in expressing their own, unique style. She believes every room deserves something vintage (or a plant!).
In her free time, you’ll find Jackie playing golf, foraging outdoors, thrift shopping, enjoying live music, or losing hours to a good jigsaw puzzle.

Interior Designer
Megan Hanus
Interior Designer, Megan Hanus, graduated from the accredited interior design program at the University of Northern Iowa. Well before her college years, Megan was very creative – a trait she took over from her mother, who is a photographer.
Megan worked as a commercial designer for 6 years before switching over to the residential side of interior design. She loves the technology aspects that help her with the design process, and enjoys keeping up with the latest interior design programs and technology.
Her two personal favorite design styles are Mid-Century Modern and Modern Traditional, but enjoys working with her clients on whatever their personal style may be. She also loves to find design inspirations by traveling, following talented designers on instagram, and through fashion and nature.
In Megan’s free time, she enjoys golfing and traveling with her supportive husband, JJ.

Design Assistant
Jen Weis
Throughout life, Jen found herself getting lost in enchanting artwork or admiring the craftsmanship of a well-designed home. Inspired by the way good design can make a space not only look good but function well, she decided to follow her heart and pursue a career in the field. She got her feet wet in interior design as a sales associate at Mix Home Mercantile and is currently enrolled in the Interior Design program at Kirkwood Community College. She continues to work at our MHM Design Studio and Mix Home Mercantile while attending design school and will add an Associates Degree in Interior Design to her academic accomplishments.
When not at the studio, you can find Jen spending time with her family, cycling, and enjoying the outdoors.
