One Room Makeovers are our most requested type of design consultation at Emily Hughes Interiors. This home office was sitting empty until our client found out she would need to work from home long term. She came to us asking for a pulled-together, efficient layout for the small space. She wanted the room to be colorful, inspiring, and inviting to her children, with a spot for them to sit and visit with her while she worked (and a door for privacy when work requires it).
The first step of our design process is to consider the furniture layout, selecting items we think will work well in the space. Then we layout the items to scale in a space plan so we can ensure that they will fit properly in the space and that there is adequate room for the space to be functional. We carefully consider numerous elements, such as appropriate color and finish selections, traffic flow, ergonomic constraints, sound transfer, control of lighting levels, and overall visual aesthetics. We put items onto a room board to help our clients visualize how the items will look together in their space. The room board includes product details, images, and pricing.
After our clients provide feedback on their preferences for the design, we put their desired preferences into a proposal and request a 50% deposit to initiate our order process. Then we enter orders on our client’s behalf, receive and inspect the goods and provide free local delivery. We request the second deposit prior to delivery, and our designers often tag along on larger installations to direct our delivery team on item placement and artwork and accessory installation.

The first step for new clients is to fill out this form. Once submitted, we will send you a link to our new client questionnaire.
Once you've completed the new client questionnaire, we will review your answers and be in touch within 45-60 days to schedule our initial meeting at your home. This first meeting has a flat fee of $150 and is an information-gathering session. We meet you, measure your space, take photos, review your design needs and any architectural or builder blueprints that may be available, along with your saved design inspiration images.
Following that meeting, we will be in touch with an interior design proposal that addresses your project scope and will request a deposit for design services to get your project started.
