Interior design is not always about starting with a blank canvas, sometimes when clients already have elements that they are attached to it helps drive the design and create a more personalized space. At Mix Home, some of our favorite pieces are found vintage from local second-hand stores. When shopping second-hand, it is easy to accumulate some amazing and one-of-a-kind pieces.

Knowing that someone before you cherished a piece gives it so much more character. Vintage pieces can also add a touch of history to your room and bring an immense amount of character. Along with shopping for used pieces, keeping sentimental items from parents or grandparents is a great way to make your home personal and keep a tribute to loved ones.

Our vintage Turkish rugs are a great way to add a subtle bit of culture and texture to a home. They have soft muted colors that make it easy to combine with newer elements. Along with something as simple as a rug or a pillow, clients have also found bigger pieces like lounge and dining chairs that can be spruced up with reupholstery or a new coat of paint.

Shopping second hand for your home is an interesting and inexpensive way to add some character that is different from buying brand new. Next time you drive by your local vintage store don’t be afraid to wander and you may find a piece that is perfect for your home.
